Sheepshead Bay is a southern neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. The Sheepshead Bay boundaries are from Ocean Parkway on the west to Nostrand Avenue, Gerritsen Avenue, Knapp Street, and Shell Bank Avenue on the east, from Kings Highway or Avenue P on the north to Sheepshead bay on the south.
Growing up in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn was great! We had a bike path to the Rockaways (my 1st big adventure), fishing off of the piers on Emmons Avenue and empty lots to run around in.
Now, after decades of delay the City is finally moving forward on a new Sheepshead Bay park. Superstorm Sandy delayed construction of Brigham Street Park but the $6.15M park is projected to be completed by May 2020.
One civic leader Mr. Borko says “ let’s hope that they don’t forget this community’s roots and they include a fishing dock and bathrooms”. Another local civic leader demanded city planners include what would be the city’s first public boat launch.
A Parks Department spokeswoman said “the new space will feature a number of state of the art facilities including a new playground, swings, a spray shower area, a hillside slide, a picnic area and more when the park opens to the public next Spring.
