Seven projects competed for the award for Excellence in Development that is given by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) each year. ULI began the Awards for Excellence program in 1979 with the objective of recognizing truly superior development efforts including full development process of a project, not just its architecture or design.
St. Ann’s Warehouse in Dumbo was a co-winner to take top honors along with 6 other projects from across the city and state.
St. Ann’s Warehouse and the September 11th Memorial Museum & Pavillion took top awards for Excellence in Institutional Development. This award is given for excellence in innovation, responsible land use and community impact.
As part of the waterfront development in Brooklyn Bridge Park, an 1860’s restored tobacco warehouse has become the new home of the St. Ann’s Warehouse organization.
St. Ann’s Warehouse is a 36 year old performance organization which specializes in Avante Garde, foreign, Puppetry performances. The building has a 700 seat theatre, an event space, a lobby and a community space that includes a public garden.
