For those who live in Sea Gate, Brooklyn NY, a private gated community at the far western end of Coney Island, with four and a half miles of winding tree lined roads, the beach is the biggest magnet. The farthest that a Sea Gate resident needs to walk to get to the beach is three to four blocks and there is never a problem of where to put your blanket. Sea Gate is surrounded on three sides by water with private beaches. In addition to the private beaches, there are two parks: A playground with a basketball court next to Sea Gate Community Center on Surf Avenue and Beach Reservation which extends before and beyond Norton’s Point and consists of a sandy/grassy patch of land with views of Lower New York Harbor and The Verrazano Bridge. There is also The Sea Gate Beach Club, a popular summertime spot for many families. The club is located on one of the only private beaches in Brooklyn, past the private gated entrance to the community. Summer memberships are available. There is an Olympic sized pool, private beach and private cabanas. Chairs and towels are provided so that you can just come and relax.

Sea Gate has it’s own association which provides sanitation and police services to the community. The city provides firefighting and health protection services. Sea Gate homeowners pay the association yearly dues based on New York City property assessments.

Subway service into Manhattan consists of the D,F,N and Q trains located at The Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway terminal. The terminal had undergone a $310M reconstruction and is one of the largest elevated subway terminals in the U.S. The B36 and B74 buses provide access to the subway terminal from Sea Gate. There is also the X28 Express bus to Midtown Manhattan.
There are no public schools in Sea Gate. School kids take buses to district 21 schools in and near Coney Island. These schools are:

Sea Gate was devastated by Super Storm Sandy, but has rebounded beautifully. Real Estate in Sea Gate is in high demand. There are many Sea Gate residents who can afford to live anywhere in Brooklyn and have chosen to live in Sea Gate for the privacy and serenity of the lifestyle there.
