Topping the list for 2021, after a life changing pandemic hit our city according to Streeteasy, Greenpoint is now#1 on the list of top Brooklyn neighborhoods.
Daily commuters who settled in Brooklyn before the pandemic did not necessarily favor Greenpoint with one subway line, the G train or the Ferry from India Street into Manhattan. That has changed dramatically in favor Greenpoint since many jobs have gone virtual.
According to Nancy Wu, Streeteasy economist, a lot of Manhattan residents are moving to the outer boroughs, especially to Brooklyn. Wu says “Greenpoint saw a 67% surge in searches on Streeteasy from 2019 to 2020 showing a clear increase in demand.
While rents in Greenpoint declined approximately 2% from 2019 and not being that much lower than Manhattan rents, Greenpoint offers larger spaces and a much better value than Manhattan.
Greenpoint has it all, an authentic atmosphere that is a mix of old and new, great dining and shopping options, a wide range of lifestyle choices whether buying or renting, a vibrant nightlife and Greenpoint is a wonderfully diverse melting pot of people and cultures.
Streeteasy's 8 out of the lists top 10 spots belong to Brooklyn.
Other Brooklyn neighborhoods of note are Prospect Lefferts Gardens in the #2 spot and Flatbush in the #4 spot.
