A wonderful afternoon getaway option to consider is Bath Beach.
Strolling along Bath Beach's shoreline promenade (with a walking and bicycling path), enjoying a fabulous view of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge, and meandering through the quiet streets admiring the amazing array of Victorian homes is a great way to safely spend a summer afternoon in Brooklyn.
At both Bay 8th Street and 17th Avenue, there is an overpass leading down to the shoreline promenade, the bay and the bridge views where there are benches to sit on to relax and enjoy the tugboats towing barges filled with containers of goods, the enormous cruise ships entering New York and countless sailboats, jet skiers, water taxis and luxury vessels as they pass under the majestic Verrazzano Bridge.
A home tour of Bath Beach does not disappoint, with many beautiful Victorian homes to admire that are built with witch's hats and turrets are located on Bath Avenue, Benson Avenue, Cropsey Avenue, Bay 8th Street, Bay 11th Street, Bay 22nd Street, Bay 25th Street, Bay 26th Street, Bay 28th Street and on 20th Avenue.
Even the 62nd Police Precinct in Bath Beach located at 1925 Bath Avenue, built in 1905 with red brick and stone and green trim around the top of the exterior is a beautiful building to see.
After all of that shoreline and house tour strolling, you've probably worked up an appetite. A terrific choice is to go east to 86th Street to another Brooklyn gem, L&B Spumoni Gardens Pizzeria and restaurant (established since 1938) to enjoy a socially distanced al fresco dining experience and partake of some of the best Pizza and Italian specialty dishes to be found anywhere.
