Downtown Brooklyn, NY is one of the 3 largest New York City’s CBDs (central Business Districts). The neighborhood is continuously developing and the number of upscale high rise apartment buildings is growing.

There are some exciting, innovative and ambitious new projects in the works in Downtown Brooklyn. Some of these projects are:

Brooklyn Point being developed by Extell, is one of the tallest buildings being built right now. The building is planned for 720 feet in height and the 49th floor is now taking shape. The project architect is SLCE Architects and the design is by Kohn Petersen Fox. Building interiors will be designed by Katherine Newman and the private outdoor landscaping is being created by MNLA. Brooklyn Point is the final part of the City Point complex of 3 buildings which have residential units, the Dekalb Market Hall, Alamo Drafthouse cinema, Target, C21 Department Store, Trader Joe’s and multiple small retail shops. There is easy access to the Dekalb Subway station where you can access the B, Q and R trains.

Another incredible new project in the works islocated at 181 Livingston Street and has been named The Wheeler. Design by Perkins Eastman & Shimoda Design Group will combine an art deco building with a new 14 story glass tower. The new tower will be 256 feet tall and there will be 843,830 square feet of new commercial space. Macy’s will occupy the lower 4 floors and offices will occupy the remaining 90,000 square feet. Tishman Speyer is the developer for this project. Amenities will include a 10,000 square foot rooftop terrace, 130 bicycle storage units, shower and locker room and a recreational space. Subway service is very conveniently located at the Hoyt Street station for the #2 and #3 trains at Hoyt and Fulton Streets, the Hoyt Schermahorn station for the A,C and G trains and Jay Street/ Metro Tech station for the A,C F and R trains.

The tallest and most ambitious planned project in the works is located at 9 Dekalb Avenue (The Brooklyn Dime Savings Bank Building). Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development and The Chetrit Group, this supertall tower will reach 1,066 feet in height.
